Our homegrown vegetables are all grown on our small 30 acre farm. Although we are not registered organic it has always been important to us that we are as environmentally and economically friendly as possible. This means that rather than using lots of chemicals and artificial fertilisers we rotate our crops, use animal manure from our own animals as a natural fertiliser, weed mostly by hand and use fleece to protect the crops instead of pesticides.
Our pigs also help in our ground management and clear up the old season vegetables that are left in the ground such and the misshaped neeps and carrots as well as clearing up and any rogue plants that have came up, digging up the large stones in the ground, clearing weeds and fertilising the ground ahead of planting for the next season.
